Stay, and stay current
It works, and nothing forces a move this year.
Everything, with Sage's 2026 updates applied.
VB6 and Windows dependencies, and a shrinking pool of people who know it.

Sage that talks to everything else you run.
Sage 100 has no full REST API, so most integrations end up as nightly imports and someone retyping the rest. QServices connects Sage 100 to your bank, CRM, web store and EDI partners through its supported routes, adds AI agents for the manual finance work, and helps Sage 500 users decide what comes next.
Writes through Sage's Business Object Interface, so Sage's own validation still applies.
Each route has a job. Writing through the wrong one is how integrations break or skip Sage's validation.
| Route | Reads or writes | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Business Object Interface (BOI) | Reads and writes, with Sage's validation | Creating orders, invoices, customers and cash receipts from other systems |
| ODBC | Read-only | Reports, Power BI and lookups for agents |
| Visual Integrator | Batch imports and exports | Scheduled file loads from banks, partners and spreadsheets |
| Middleware with a REST layer | Both, through BOI underneath | Web stores, CRMs and anything that expects an API |
Sage's older eBusiness Web Services and SData are no longer developed, per Sage community and third-party sources.
Sage still ships Sage 500 updates in 2026, and no end date has been announced. But it runs on VB6 and SQL Server only, with no plans for a new interface or a cloud version.

Finance-led companies happy with cloud financials.
A Sage relationship and familiar finance concepts.
A partner puts typical moves at 90 to 120 days; operations features differ.
Manufacturers and distributors needing deeper operations.
A Sage relationship.
A larger implementation than Intacct.
The move is a year or more away and manual work hurts today.
Sage, untouched. Integrations built to move with you.
Build against an abstraction layer so only one end changes later.
Sage 500 status from Sage Community Hub announcements (2026) and RKL eSolutions, a Sage partner. Other ERPs, such as Business Central, are also options; see [ERP modernization](/services/erp-modernization).
Sage's AI features so far answer questions about Sage. Agents that do the finance work itself are still a custom build.
AI help inside Sage 100, and from 25 September 2026 the first step in Sage 100 chat support.

Nothing has to happen this year: Sage still ships Sage 500 updates and hasn't announced an end date. But it runs on VB6 with no cloud version planned, so plan a move to Sage Intacct, Sage X3 or another ERP within your next few budget cycles, and extend Sage 500 in the meantime with integrations built to move with you.
Ask how they write data into Sage (it should be the Business Object Interface, not direct database writes), how they handle Sage's annual releases, what integrations they've built that are still running, and who supports them after go-live.
Through the Business Object Interface for writes, ODBC for reads and Visual Integrator for scheduled files, usually with a middleware layer that gives other systems a REST API to call.
Yes, as a custom build. Sage's own AI so far helps users find answers in Sage. Agents for cash application, collections or order entry can read through ODBC and write through BOI, with a person approving postings.
Find out which hand-offs cost your team the most hours, and fix those first.
