Azure consulting services · Hosting, integration and cost for ERP companies

The cloud under your ERP. Sized for a mid-sized company.

Your ERP database, the integrations around it and the AI agents on top all need somewhere to run. QServices sets up Azure for companies on Dynamics GP, Business Central, SYSPRO, Epicor and Sage: a landing zone that fits, hosting your ERP can live with, and a bill you can explain.

Hosting your ERP

Four ways to run your ERP on or next to Azure.

The ERP vendor's support statement decides more than the price does. We check it first.

Most ERPs

Azure VM with SQL Server

Dynamics GP, SYSPRO, Epicor or Sage, where you need full control of SQL Server.

EffortLow-mid
CostMedium
ChangeLow
You keep

Your SQL Server, agent jobs and the vendor's support statement.

Watch for

You still patch Windows and SQL Server. Memory-optimised sizes are Microsoft's starting point for SQL.

Azure SQL Managed Instance

ERPs whose vendor supports it, and teams that want backups and patching handled.

EffortMedium
CostMedium
ChangeLow-mid
You keep

SQL Agent, cross-database queries and linked servers.

Watch for

Check vendor support first. Business Critical costs about 2.7 times General Purpose.

Azure Virtual Desktop for the ERP client

Desktop clients like GP, SYSPRO or SAP Business One that need to sit next to the database.

EffortMedium
CostMedium
ChangeLow
You keep

The client your team already knows, published as a single app.

Watch for

You size and patch the session hosts. Users outside your company pay a monthly fee each.

Move to the vendor's cloud ERP

You're changing ERP anyway, for example GP to Business Central.

EffortVery high

You keep

Your data, moved with the vendor's migration tools.

Watch for

This is an ERP project, not a hosting change.

Integration on Azure

What the integration layer costs a month.

The pieces that move data between your ERP, bank, store, CRM and agents.

Use it forUS East list price
Logic Apps StandardERP, bank and EDI workflows inside your own networkWS1 about $182, WS2 about $365 a month
Logic Apps ConsumptionLow-volume workflows$0.000125 per standard connector call; 4,000 built-in actions free
Service Bus StandardQueues between the ERP and other systems$10 a month, with 13 million operations included
API Management Basic v2One front door for ERP APIs and AI agentsAbout $150 a month
Azure Functions Flex ConsumptionSmall pieces of custom codeFree monthly grant, then $0.40 per million runs
On-premises data gatewayReaching SQL Server that stays on-premisesNo charge for the gateway itself

Azure Retail Prices API, US East, pay-as-you-go list prices, 27 October 2026. Your agreement and region change these.

Landing zone

A landing zone sized for your company, not a bank's.

Microsoft's landing zone guidance is written for every size. We keep the parts a mid-sized ERP shop needs.

Identity

Entra ID with multi-factor sign-in, which Azure now requires for admins. Conditional Access needs Entra ID P1, $7 per user a month.

Network

New virtual networks get private subnets by default, so outbound access is planned, not left open. Site-to-site VPN to your office.

Security

Defender for Servers Plan 1 at about $4.91 per server a month, with Key Vault for secrets and managed identities instead of passwords.

Backup and recovery

Azure Backup from $10 per VM a month ($25 for SQL Server in a VM), plus Site Recovery for the ERP server, free for the first 31 days.

Cost

Budgets and anomaly alerts in Cost Management, Azure Hybrid Benefit applied, and Azure Advisor reviewed monthly.

Servers that stay on-premises

Azure Arc for patching and inventory of the servers you keep, so everything is managed from one place.

FAQ

What IT leads and CFOs ask about Azure.

What do Azure consulting services include for a mid-sized ERP company?

An assessment of what you run today, a right-sized landing zone, hosting for the ERP and its SQL Server, the integrations around it, security and backup, cost controls, and support after go-live. AI agents can then run on the same foundation.

Can we run Dynamics GP or SYSPRO on Azure?

Yes: usually on an Azure VM with SQL Server, with the desktop client published through Azure Virtual Desktop. GP support ends on 31 December 2029, so for GP we treat Azure as a bridge to Business Central.

SQL Server VM or Azure SQL Managed Instance for our ERP database?

Your ERP vendor's support statement decides first. Managed Instance keeps SQL Agent, cross-database queries and linked servers and handles backups for you; a VM gives full control and fits more ERPs today.

Our SQL Server 2016 is out of support. What now?

Extended support ended on 14 July 2026. You can buy Extended Security Updates for up to three years, which are paid even on Azure VMs, move to Azure SQL, or upgrade to a supported SQL Server.

Is Azure cheaper than running our own servers?

Not automatically. Moving servers as they are often costs more. Savings come from right-sizing, Azure Hybrid Benefit (up to 85% off SQL Server licensing), reservations (up to 72%) and switching off what isn't used.

Is there Microsoft funding for an Azure project?

Microsoft's Azure Accelerate program combines partner funding, Azure credits and Microsoft engineering help. Customers can't apply directly: a qualifying partner nominates the project, and Microsoft decides.

Do we need a full Azure landing zone?

You need its foundations: identity, network, security, backup and cost controls. You rarely need everything Microsoft's enterprise templates deploy. We build the parts that fit your size and grow it later.
