QServices is a remote-first .NET development company serving Calgary businesses in FinTech, logistics, oil and gas, and agriculture. We are based in India, not Calgary, and work on remote engagements with morning MT windows each day for real-time sync. QServices is a Microsoft Solutions Partner building custom .NET 8 applications and APIs for Canadian businesses operating in regulated and complex industries.
Calgary's economy runs on industries with genuine software complexity. The .NET work we see from this market falls into a few clear categories:
Alberta has its own private-sector privacy law: PIPA (Personal Information Protection Act), administered by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta. Unlike federal PIPEDA, PIPA applies specifically to private-sector organizations operating in Alberta and governs how any .NET application collects, uses, and discloses personal information about Alberta residents. We build consent flows, audit logging, and data minimization into the architecture from day one rather than bolting them on at the end. For energy-sector clients, the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) sets additional data-handling and reporting requirements that shape how we design operational data stores and API access controls.
Calgary runs on Mountain Time (MST, UTC-7 in winter; MDT, UTC-6 in summer). Our engineers work in IST (UTC+5:30), which puts us 11.5 to 12.5 hours ahead depending on the season. That gap is real and we do not pretend otherwise.
In practice: we schedule a 30-minute standup at 8:00 AM MST (8:30 PM IST) every weekday. Your team gets a live touchpoint at the start of their day. Our engineers have already been working for several hours by then and arrive at the call with updates, blockers surfaced, and code ready to review. Sprint reviews, architectural walkthroughs, and demo sessions happen over Microsoft Teams or Zoom at whatever time fits Calgary schedules.
Async work fills the rest of the day: written updates in Slack or Teams, pull request reviews in GitHub, and documented decisions in Confluence or Notion so nothing falls through the time-zone gap. On-site visits are available for major milestones, billed at cost.
Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) governance runs throughout every engagement. Your designated stakeholder approves architectural decisions and scope changes before we proceed. No silent pivots, no scope creep without a written change order.
We do not have a published case study from a Calgary or Alberta client. We say this plainly rather than fabricating local experience. The two .NET engagements most relevant to Calgary's FinTech and payments sector are:
SomBank Mobile Payment Platform: We built the first digital payment platform in Somalia for an Islamic bank, covering peer-to-peer transfers, merchant QR payments, and international remittances. The stack included .NET, React Native, Azure Service Bus, Azure B2C, Ocelot API Gateway, and Azure Key Vault. It launched with over 100,000 downloads and a 4.8-star rating. The compliance surface differs from Alberta, but the engineering challenges around regulated financial APIs, secure cross-border data flows, and Azure-hosted .NET backends are directly applicable to Calgary's FinTech sector.

100K+ downloads with 4.8-star rating on launch
First digital payment platform in a predominantly cash-based economy, enabling P2P transfers, merchant QR payments, and international remittances
Varipay Cross-Border Payment Gateway: For an international remittance business in Jamaica, we built a .NET microservices aggregator spanning Stripe, PayPal, Wise, and regional gateways. Transaction fees dropped approximately 30 percent through optimized routing; settlement times fell from 3 to 5 days down to under 24 hours. Payment infrastructure work of this kind is relevant to Calgary businesses operating in cross-border trade finance and FinTech services.
International payments and remittance business, Jamaica
Reduced transaction fees by approximately 30 percent through optimized gateway routing
Cut settlement times from 3-5 days to under 24 hours with a unified reconciliation engine and audit trail
For Calgary's oil and gas, logistics, and agriculture sectors, our production experience covers .NET APIs connected to operational data pipelines and Azure-hosted databases. We do not have a direct published case study from those verticals and will not claim otherwise. If your project falls into energy or agri-tech, we will be upfront about what we know and what we would need to learn.
Our rates are in USD. Calgary clients convert at prevailing CAD/USD exchange rates. We do not add currency surcharges or regional markups. A full .NET development pricing breakdown is on our site.
For Alberta clients with PIPA compliance requirements, add 15–25% for privacy-by-design architecture, audit logging, and privacy impact assessments. Energy-sector projects touching AER-scope data carry a similar uplift. Each non-trivial system integration (ERP, SCADA, payment processor) adds $3,000–$12,000. Ongoing maintenance retainers run $2,000–$4,000 USD per month. All figures are in USD; typical project size for this market runs $20,000–$200,000 USD depending on scope and compliance surface.
Yes. All client engagements are remote. We have no office in Calgary or anywhere in Canada. What we do have is a structured remote delivery model built around Mountain Time: daily standups at 8:00 AM MST, sprint reviews on your schedule, written async updates throughout the day, and HITL checkpoints at each milestone so your team retains decision authority at every stage. See our FinTech .NET development page for more on regulated-industry delivery.
For data residency, we configure .NET applications on Azure Canada Central or Canada East by default for Alberta clients. PIPA Alberta does not mandate in-province hosting, but Canadian-region Azure satisfies the expectations of most Alberta clients and meets common data-residency requirements. Azure App Service, SQL Server, and Blob Storage all deploy to the Canadian region unless you specify otherwise.
